About this training
This interactive training introduces schemas as they relate to children's play and knowledge building, and equips participants with a foundational understanding of schematic play and its potential role in curriculum development. Through collaborative analysis of observations of children at play, participants deepen their thinking beyond simply identifying play patterns, moving toward interpreting children's goals, strategies, and theories. Using this observation framework, educators practice planning meaningful invitations, materials, environmental changes, and provocations that extend children's investigations, support deeper exploration, and foster knowledge building through play.
